Getting started

Often, the hardest part of anything is just getting started. Do you have a new idea or are you looking for a fresh start on something already in the works? Here are some sure fire ways to make sure you get started and keep going!

Write it down

Now I’m probably the worst at this, but you really should write down your ideas, otherwise a good idea might get lost. I’ve lost a dear many ideas to the passing of time. To make it easier open up your note taking app of choice and make a category/folder/page just for ideas. There is something about writing down your ideas. Who knows, that idea might be a reality someday and writing it down is the first step to making it a reality.

Give it some time

Ever worked on something and rushed an idea from concept to delivery only to find it a little underwhelming? Try to distance phases on projects, give yourself a nights rest to give some perspective and a fresh set of eyes. And speaking about a fresh set…

Involve others

Two heads are better that one! Find someone who’s opinion you trust, not just someone who’s agreeable. Constructive criticism is key to progressing an idea to a marketable product. This also goes for projects that seem stuck. Someone else’s perspective could be just what you need to reignite the kiln of creativity and ingenuity.

These are some quick tips on getting started and are by no means comprehensive. What are your sure-fire ways to get a project or idea off the ground and keep it going? Let us know in the comments below!
